In Memory of Bobbie Gene Lee lost to Agent Orange in 1973.

This is my father, SFC Bobbie Gene Lee. He served two tours in Vietnam and died as a result of Agent Orange on 26 July,1973. He died when he was 37 years old, leaving a wife, three daughters and a son.

My father served two tours in Vietnam. Jan 1968 – Jan 1969, Headquarters and Service Battery, 2d Battalion, 40th Arty, 199th Light Infantry Brigade. He served in Vietnam from 15 May 1971 – 29 Sep 1971 in the same HQ 199 Inf Bde.

There’s a unit citation for the 1968-69 tour mentioning the Tet Offensive: Award of the Valorous Unit Award (31 Jan 1968 – 19 February 1968) The 199th Inf Brigade (Separate) (Light) …. distinguished themselves by extraordinary heroism while engaged in military operations during the period 31 January to 19 February 1968 in support of Saigon and Long Binh Post during the TET Offensive.

In the early morning hours on 31 January, insurgent forces launched savage attacks against Long Binh by firing rockets at II Field Forces Vietnam and Bien Hoa Air Base.

Brigade artillery promptly and effectively reacted to the attack, destroying two rocket bases and silencing the rest with a voluminous barrage.  It’s a long citation under General Orders Number 3073, 25 June 1968.

We all miss him.
