Dana, later known as (Horse) was drafted when he was 18.

Five months later he was sent to Vietnam, November 1968.

Dana proudly and honorably served from 1968-1972 with the United States Army 1st Infantry Division as a Combat Infantryman.

He was awarded the Silver Star, the Presidential Unit ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Civil Action Honor medal.

Dana survived Tet, many combat missions, An Loc and numerous attacks while on patrol, telling himself, “If I get out of here alive the rest of my life will be gravy.”

Dana suffered 12 long years from the effects of Agent Orange.

He suffered from aortic valve replacement, Type II Diabetes, prostate cancer, skin rashes, skin cancer and neuropathy.

He passed away January 12, 2012.

My heart goes out to all you veterans who are suffering from exposure as well as to the families who have lost a loved one.

God Bless all those who have served and served today.

You are all the unsung heroes.
