In Memory of LTC (Ret) John V. Getchell lost to Agent Orange in 1997.

In loving memory of my late husband, LTC (Ret) John V. Getchell, Army, passed from Primary Systemic Amyloidosis due to Agent Orange Exposure on March 24, 1997.

16 years of marriage and our 2 kids, ages 11 1/2 and 13 miss him very much.

John was a most kind man, a patient man and never complained of his illness. He was the best dad and husband you could want. When he was diagnosed in August of 1995, of course I cried and told him I wish I could trade places with him, but he said to me, “Mary, it doesn’t matter which one of us it is, just as long as it isn’t one of the kids”. Those words still help today and they were the greatest gift he could have ever given.

John is resting in peace and may God Bless all of you who walk this journey. Mary Ellen Mueller Getchell
