In Memory of John Mike Burden lost to Agent Orange in 2003.
John Mike Burden proudly served in the United States Air Force. April 1967 – April 1968 he was stationed at Cam Rahm Bay, Vietnam, assigned to the Air Police unit.
John passed away May 7, 2003 from Agent Orange related illnesses.
My dad spent several years as President of the Arkansas Vietnam Veterans of America. He fought hard for Vietnam Veteran’s benefits and trying to get Agent Orange recognized by the VA as a toxic military exposure.
John taught 8th grade Career Education because he felt that was the prime age to change a person’s life. He would often times buy coats or shoes for less fortunate students because he felt it was the humane thing to do. He was available to his students and veterans of Arkansas 24/7.
Several times he left the house in the middle of the night to drive 3-4 hours to help a Veteran on the brink. He loved his Brothers no matter their branch and loved his students, many of whom stayed in contact until his death in 2003 and showed up at his funeral.
