In Memory of James Thomas Moody Sr. lost to Agent Orange 2016.
James Thomas Moody Sr. entered the United States Navy in 1962 in Seattle, Wa. His first rating was an aviation machineist mate. He earned his AC and jump wings during his first duty assignment with AEW Barron Squadron in Hawaii.
James joined the Navy Seabees in 1967 and trained in Ca. and then went to Davisville, RI where he joined NMCB 53 for 2 tours in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969.
He was an Engineering Aide Surveyor or EAS3 during that time. James also help to run the MARS station for the battallion during that time. He is pictured in the Battallion News letter demonstrating how they work.
James continued in the service until his first heart attack and esophageal cancer forced him to retire from the Navy in 1982 as an EAI after 20 years.
James passed away February 16, 2016 at the Biloxi VA surrounded by his wife and children. He was 100% VA disabled. He was buried at the Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors by the US Seabess. “CAN DO SEABEE.”
James served as an All American Post Commander for the VFW. He was a National Service Officer and life member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America.
My mom and dad were married 44 years. Their birthdays were 1 day apart and their anniversary was the same month…. all in March.
He is missed by his loving wife and 2 children, James and Amijune.
