In Memory of Luis F. LaTorre lost to Agent Orange in 2009.
My father, Luis F. LaTorre, passed away Sept., 2009, from exposure to Agent Orange. Luis served in Vietnam in 1967 – 1968 in 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He earned a Bronze star and Purple Heart.
My father joined the active duty Army during Vietnam. After he was discharged a few years later some time in the early 70s he joined the Army National Guard in Brooklyn 102 maint. Co… In Nov. 1990.
He went to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. At this point my brother was also in his unit. They went together.
My dad hurt his back out there. He was a staff Sgt. They both were home around July 1991 after my brother broke his wrist out there.
Their 1st Sgt was the unit’s first casualty. The 1st Sgt was flipped in a truck in some kind of accident.
My dad stayed in the National Guard till the Fall of 1999. My brother got out in 2004.
I joined their unit in 1995. All three of us served together in the 102nd.
I served from May 1995 till Oct. of 2007.
