In Memory of Robert Wayne Nelms lost to Agent Orange in 2013.
Robert Wayne Nelms was a Veteran of the 36th EVAC hospital in Vung Tau, Vietnam and died from Complications of Agent Orange.
Robert Wayne Nelms, Sr., 77, of Ocean Isle Beach died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Universal Healthcare. He was born in Elberton, GA on July 25, 1936, a son of Andrew Jackson and Mary Lou Bone Nelms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Nelms.
He retired from the US Army with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He was employed as a physician’s assistant and later managed Ken’s Pawn Shop in Shallotte.
Surviving are his wife, Olive Merle Sizemore Nelms; sons, Russell Nelms, and his wife Yvette, of Sydney, Australia and Robert W. Nelms, Jr., and his wife, Anne, of Hope Mills, NC; daughters, Cynthia LuAnne Staiger, and her husband John, of Pinellas Park, FL, Bonnie Lynne Shockey, and her husband Gary, of Burnsville, NC and Wendy Atkins, and her fiancée Steve, of Ocean Isle Beach; a brother, Dr. Donald Nelms of Ft. Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
